Welcome to Pritchett’s Small Pets, where poultry breeding, homesteading, and a love for doing things yourself all come together. What started with a genuine passion for raising animals has grown into a lifelong pursuit of learning how genetics, careful selection, good husbandry, and a little ingenuity can improve the birds and animals we raise. We have a special interest in poultry genetics and selective breeding, including preserving rare breeds, working with autosexing poultry, developing new breeding projects, improving size and production traits, and raising healthy birds with a purpose behind every pairing.

For us, homesteading is about much more than simply keeping chickens. It is about becoming more self-sufficient, learning from experience, building what we need when we can, and sharing what we learn along the way. From incubating and hatching eggs to designing brooders, cages, incubators, feeders, watering systems, breeding pens, and other DIY equipment, there always seems to be another project underway. Some projects work exactly as planned, others teach us what to do differently next time—and we believe both experiences are worth sharing.

Here at Pritchett’s Small Pets, we want this website to be more than a place to see what we raise. We want it to become a useful resource for fellow poultry keepers, breeders, homesteaders, and DIY-minded people who enjoy learning why something works instead of simply being told how to do it. We believe good breeders never stop learning, good homesteaders learn to make the most of what they have, and valuable knowledge should be passed along rather than kept secret.
