Mealworms (Tenebrio molitor) are one of the most useful live feeders to keep on hand. They work well for many reptiles, poultry, fish, wild birds and other insect-eating animals, and they are easy to portion because they stay contained and do not jump or fly.

Choose the Size That Fits Your Animals

We offer mini, small, medium, large and mixed sizes. If you are unsure which size to order, medium is our usual all-around recommendation. The sizes are priced the same, so you can choose based on what your animals actually need rather than price.

Storage

For longer storage, keep the mealworms refrigerated at approximately 42–50°F. At those temperatures they slow down and become mostly dormant. Under good conditions, they can generally be held this way for roughly 30–45 days.

Feeding Tip

Take out the amount you plan to feed and let them warm back up before offering them. If you are keeping them out of refrigeration for growth or breeding, provide appropriate food, ventilation and moisture instead of treating them like a refrigerated feeder cup.
