Our is a hard plastic tote with a heat lamp preinstalled. The brooders are very easy to clean. We put a few sheets of newspaper on the bottom, and a few shavings on top of that.

Every day or so, just take the chicks out, along with the food and water and dump the cage. Wipe it clean or spray it out with the hose, and dry it and it's ready to go again. The heat lamp is attached to the lid so that it can be removed during cleaning.

This keeps the electronics safe. If the lid needs cleaned, just unplug it and wipe it clean with a damp cloth. We use these brooders ourselves in transporting baby chicks from one location to another by plugging it into a power inverter in our car.

This allows us to use air conditioning in our car for our comfort, while allowing the chicks to stay warm at their needed temperature for their comfort. This brooder design was built by us and has worked great. A batch of about 25 chicks could be kept in this unit for about 2 weeks but after that they need thinned down or they will be too crowded and smother each other.

This brooder comes in two models. 16CB - This model consists of the brooder and a prewired socket with a heat bulb.
