Product Description

The Markoreb Crayfish is an aquarium accident species. A fish keeper over seas made this crayfish by breeding 2 species of crayfish together. They expected Males & Females as usual from the cross. However instead they created a crayfish capable or reproducing without a male. In fact every single Markoreb Crayfish is an exact clone of the original crayfish created over seas that were imported to the USA. Many countries fear them because they multiply so fast, and if introduced to the wild intentionally or by mistake they can out compete our native species. Our Markoreb self cloning Crayfish are bred and raised here in individual tanks that allow each crayfish to grow healthier and not have to compete for food. We have been successfully keeping fish with our Markoreb self cloning Crayfish which we haven't been able to do with our other species. If you want a beautiful entertaining crustacean then crayfish are the choice.

Beware of any advertising that mentions blue self cloning Crayfish. The so called Blue version are the exact same crayfish as ours. If you want them blue, feed a food with color enhancers and spurulina.

Here are a few things about Crayfish we learned that we didn't know. This will save you hours of headache and heart attacks.

Crayfish Moult all the time and it looks like a dead crayfish

Crayfish eat their moult for the calcium and nutrients. Don't remove it.

Crayfish climb out so keep a tight lid. They climb air tubing, cords, even silicone.

Crayfish love shrimp pellets. If you want to give them a live treat ghost shrimp work well.

Crayfish will climb on rocks or decor and stand with their heads out of the water.

They need filtration.

When mating they get in a missionary position on their sides. The first time I saw this I thought they were killing each other. I've seen mating take hours.

Baby crayfish are fragile and are very hard to raise. Each one needs its on tank from day one or they will become food.
