Spearmint is one of the specialty mints in our plant collection. We grow named mints because the differences in aroma, flavor and growth habit make them worth keeping as individual varieties rather than lumping everything together as simply “mint.”

Planting & Care

Plant where the roots can drain freely and where you can keep an eye on moisture while the plant establishes. Container-grown herbs can dry faster than plants in the ground, so check the soil rather than watering on a fixed schedule.

About This Variety

Our was chosen to represent a local tea company. Spearmint has strong flavor and fragrance that is released with simple bruising. It's the quality mint variety for hot and cold drinks.

Toss bruised leaves into ice water for a refreshing summer drink or add to iced tea. Spearmint is favored for flavoring beverages such as mojito. Also know as Yerba Buena.

Spreading plant is great for containers. Tolerates light frost. Type: Perennial in zones 3 to 11 Planting time: Spring or fall Features: Strong flavor and fragrance Light: Full sun to part shade.
