Our Story & History

Pritchett's Small Pets grew from years of hands-on animal keeping and a habit of turning personal projects into something useful for other people.

Before the Name

Danny had been working with poultry for years before the Pritchett's Small Pets name existed. The poultry side of the operation traces back to 2004. In 2005 he began breeding crickets for his own reptiles, and by 2011 he had expanded into raising mealworms.

Becoming Pritchett's Small Pets

The business began taking shape in 2012 and became known as Pritchett's Small Pets in 2013. Over time, Danny and Brittany's interests grew into a family operation involving poultry, quail, feeder animals, incubation, breeding projects, gardening, equipment building, and other homestead work.

Where We Are Today

Poultry genetics and selective breeding have become a major focus. We continue to maintain established breeds while also working on long-term breeding projects, autosexing traits, bantams, egg-color projects, and practical production characteristics.

Still Learning

We do not consider the homestead a finished project. There is always another hatch, another generation, another piece of equipment to improve, or another lesson to learn. That ongoing process is part of what this website is meant to document and share.
