Shipping Live Products

Shipping a live product requires more planning than shipping ordinary merchandise. Weather, species, package ventilation, carrier schedules, weekends, holidays, destination conditions, and transit time can all affect the safest shipping day.

We May Hold an Order

If conditions create an unnecessary risk, we may delay shipment rather than send a live order immediately. A short delay can be preferable to having a package sit in a carrier facility during extreme heat, cold, a holiday, or a weekend.

Temperature Matters

Some live products require supplemental warmth under the conditions described in our Shipping, Returns & Live Arrival Policy. Customers should review those requirements before checkout.

Provide a Deliverable Address

The buyer is responsible for providing a complete, accurate delivery address and monitoring tracking information. Packages containing live products should not remain unattended longer than necessary after delivery.

Inspect Promptly

Open and inspect the shipment promptly. If there is a problem, follow the timing, documentation, and contact requirements in the applicable live-arrival policy.

Carrier Delays

Once a package is accepted by the carrier, some parts of transit are outside our direct control. We package and schedule shipments with the goal of reducing avoidable risk, but carrier delays and weather events can still occur.
