Product Description

If you are seaching for a bird that comes in many colors and lays colored eggs, this is the chicken for you. Our Easter Eggers lay beautiful small eggs in shades of mostly blue or green. We get eggs from our very own distinctive colored Easter Eggers. Many hatcheries sell these chickens as Ameraucanas, Araucanas, or various spellings of the two. These are not true Ameraucanas. They are Easter Eggers. They are great for families, farms, and homesteads but can not be shown as Ameraucanas.

The reason we keep Easter Eggers is because unlike Ameraucaunas that come in Blue, Black, White, etc., Our Easter Eggers come in various colors. This is just a breed if we can even call it that, that my wife adores because they come in many colors, lay colored eggs, are very docile, and follow her around.

Our Easter Eggers are the result of careful selection and strict breeding standards. My wife wanted Easter Eggers, so I took over the breeding and she helped with the selection. Many Easter Eggers you order from hatcheries will come with assorted leg colors, bearded or non bearded (clean faced), comb types, and lay any egg color including brown which is often marketed as pink. Imagine the disappointment of raising chickens 4-7 months to find out that anticipated Blue or Green egg is Brown. We had it to happen too. We were so upset. So over the past few years we removed the brown egg laying gene from our line. We are breeding for only green legs, pea comb, and beards. We also breed for the prettiest colors only. That is the difference in our Easter Eggers.

Our Breeding Strategy for our Easter Eggers (Production)
Our Easter Eggers are bred for high egg production, pretty colors in our breeders, pea combs, preferrably green legs, beards, and blue or green eggs. They are not Ameraucanas and are not show winners but they will be egg laying machines. Our breeders are culled beginning at the day of hatch. After the chicks grow up we keep looking for undesirable traits and culling hard. We breed them the same way every year and use the Spiral Breeding Method to ensure we get the best quality and best production from our birds. Our hens are single mated or monitored by trap nests, all data is logged into our poultry breeding management software and we keep strict records using ZooEasy Standalone so that we can keep the strongest and healthiest hens that produce the most eggs as possible. We do not try to breed the broodiness out of our hens as this trait is something we encourage because mother nature can always do things better than an incubator.
